Elua's Companions
Elua's Companions are 8 angels that left the One-God to follow Elua and his precept "Love as thou Wilt". Elua is the most important deity in Terre D'Ange, but all the angels are worshiped by the people, as they all brought gifts to the people of Terre D'Ange.
Anael took the province of L'Agnace as his own. His gift to the people was husbandry and how to care for crops and the land. In the Hebrew Bible, Anael or Haniel is one of the 7 archangels.
Azza settled in Azzelle. His gift to humanity was the knowledge of navigation, so they could sail far and wide, but always be able to return home. In the bible, he was one of the angels that led the fall from heaven.
Camael founded Camlach. His name means "strength of God". He is said to have founded the first D'Angeline armies. In the bible, he is one of the 7 archangels and leader of the forces that expelled Adam from Eden. He is also considered the angel of Pure Love.
Cassiel took no land for himself and remained at Elua's side forever, being a Perfect Companion. He believed he was eternally damned for leaving the One-God and still chose to follow the One-God's law. Therefore, none of the D'Angelines are descended from him. The Cassiline Brotherhood was founded in his honour. In the bible, he may have been one of the 7 archangels. He is known as the angel of solitude and tears and was believed to have presided over the death of kings.
Eisheth ruled in the province of Eisande. She was known for her gentle ways and kindness. Her gift to her people was the knowledge of healing arts. She gave music and story to the D'Angelines. For a D'Angeline to conceive, they must first pray to her. In the bible, she is an angel associated with prostitution.
Kushiel took the land of Kusheth. It was his job to punish sinners for the One-God so that they would repent and worship the One-God. But, Kushiel did his job out of love and his sinners' loved him for it. The One-God did not approve of this because he wanted people to love and worship him only. Kushiel followed Elua because he knew Elua would understand. In the bible, Kushiel is an angel of punishment.
